4 Ways to Celebrate All Saints’ Day

Halloween has come and gone, but there’s more to celebrate! Happy All Saints’ Day!

First things first…If you aren’t familiar with All Saints’ Day, here’s a good place to start.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t know many people who celebrate All Saints’ Day. But if you want to…Here are 4 ways!

  • Write a note to someone who is an example to you of how to love God and other people or someone who has helped you to get to know Jesus better. You could say something like:

Dear ________,

I can see how you love God and other people by the way that you __________.

Thank you for showing me what it looks like to have a relationship with Jesus.

  • Draw a picture of a saint (a person who knows Jesus) who shows you how to love and obey God and love other people. This could be someone you know or someone you don’t know. Draw them in action! What do you see that shows you how to love God and other people?

  • Read a biography of a Christian missionary (past or present). Talk about what you read. How did the Christian you read about love God and people? What was the most surprising thing you read or heard. What kinds of things did they give up to serve God? Why do you think they chose to do what they did?

This website isn’t flashy, but it’s a place to start if you don’t already have any missionaries in mind: https://www.wholesomewords.org/children/misscc.html

There are also SEVERAL videos on YouTube. If you search for “Missionary Biographies,” you’re sure to find some. You could also look for specific names. This is one of my favorites: Ida B. Scudder.

  • Pray for Christians near and far away. Pray for Christians you know. Pray for missionaries. Pray for Christians who are being persecuted for what they believe. There are several missions websites that can give you ideas about who or what to pray for if you don’t know where to start. Here’s one!

Now get out there and celebrate! Then tell me how you did.

Your Turn! Do you celebrate All Saints’ Day? How? What are your favorite missionary biographies? Who has been an example to you of how to love God and people?

P.S. Celebrate life!
